"How was I going to get the clothes for college? How was I going to get clothes for Kennyso he would stay in school?(pg.14, Walter Dean Myers)
I find this quote to be a little close to the heart because a lot of people join the army for lack of money. I also think that he had to be pretty brave for him to join so that he could help his brother go through school.

Is this book Fallen Angels? I was thinking about reading this one. I agree that it was very brave of the main character to join the army and it sounds like he's also a very good brother! Was the main character's biggest worry getting and staying in school?
Yes his biggest worry was keeping his brother in school. He himself had just graduated when he entered.
The main character must had been a great brother to be willing to join the Army so his brother could go to school. That shows a true brother who cares. Good quote Casey.
Thanks but I am kind of curious what happened to his dad. I either can't remember or it wasn't mentioned.
It said that his father left when Kenny was four. Kenny took it pretty hard, and that was the reason Perry worried so much about him not having a good role model in the family.
thank you for the reminder Heidi.
